I'm posting this a little bit later than what I maybe should have, but better late than never is what I always (never) say. I've done design subjects before. I did 2 years at USC and one semester so far at UQ. There's one thing that never fails to change, and that's the difference is how each and every design class is run. All of them are focused around a particular theme but a lot of them seem to be very different in their feel to all the rest.
From DECO1800 I expect to learn about designing good, functional computer programs that achieve their intended goals without waste. I imagine this will be achieved in a way that doesn't make it immediately obvious but leaves you understanding more than what you thought you would.
I hope that by the end of this course I have a much greater understanding on how programs are designed to function well with the user. I hope to understand things like Photoshop and illustrator better than I currently do. I really hope to learn things that I had no idea I would learn anything about.
That is what I expect from this class.
